Bean Number Hunt

William started to show an interest in numbers so I set up a, you guessed it, super simple 5 minute activity.

I mixed black and white dry beans in a cake tin and inside hid pieces of paper numbered 1-5.

Williams job? Find the numbers!

As he pulled them out I told him what number it was if he didn’t know (he was just learning them at this point so really only recognised number 1).

Whilst it was only a quick play it was a great way to introduce numbers with the added element of sensory play. You could do this on a much bigger scale and we probably will give that a go another day!
