Play,  Tuff Tray

Animal Tuff Tray

Do you find your toddler goes through phases where they are obsessive over certain toys? William had a few weeks where all he wanted to do was play with 6 chunky animal figures he has.

Although he’s not massively into small world play at the moment (that may or may not change over time) I still like to ensure I offer it from time to time so for this activity I set up an animal tuff tray.

It was very simple as I just used things I had already. I have seen some amazing set ups on instagram. This isn’t one of those lol!

I used some old green carpet we had as a grass base. I added our animals and stunning Teddo Play animal cards along with a magnifying glass. I added a fence (from hobby craft) with peg dolls and some bowls and scoops with red lentils which was the animals food. Finally I popped his basket not h tuff tray with some animal stickers.

As you can see he made a beeline straight away for the lentils and had some fun pouring and scooping.

He also enjoyed playing with the stickers.

The Teddo play cards were a hit and he asked me for ‘more’ so I got the whole box out.

It was one of those activities that took up longer to set up than he did play with it 😉 But….that’s just the way it goes sometimes and I knew that it would likely happen. We will try a smilier activity again in the future and see if he has more interest.

For me, play is about following their lead and passions. But also ensuring I give William opportunities to explore and try different things and not writing off whole areas of play because he didn’t seem bothered about it. Our little ones and growing and changing all the time 🙂

Happy Playing, Caroline x
