DIY Flap Book

Sometimes an activity comes along that is so simple you think, ‘why haven’t I done this before’.

This my friend, is one of those activities.

We were in the middle of lockdown and I was desperate for anyway to entertain William. Like most other parents, I was knackered, fed up, running out of steam and so was William!

I saw this on instagram and thought ‘genius’!

To bring old books to life or to simply add a different dimension of play to a book, simple add post it notes (sticky notes) over pictures in the book. Your toddlers task? To lift up the flap and see what’s underneath!

I kept it simple and put the post its straight on but you would always cut them into fun shapes too.

As you can see it really captured William’s attention. He didn’t;t have a quick peek under the flaps he would tear them off and with a very heavy hand stick them back on again 😉 😉 😉 😉

I actually forgot about this activity then when reading a nighttime story to William yesterday I opened a book to find post it flaps! William loved it so will definitely be doing it again later his week.
