Pink Play Salt

I’m always on the look out for different play ideas so when the dyed salt trend hit Instagram I was all for it!

Even better I cannot tell you how easy it is to dye salt for play. You literally take a zip lock bag, add salt, add dye and voila, after mixing you have dyed salt.

This invitation to come and play was a selection of loose parts placed out on the table, with a bowl of pink salt and a spoon/scoops.

I purchased these loose parts from The Nursery Nook.

As you can see William asked for his animals shortly after starting to play and he wanted to hide them in the salt. It was super sweet although there wasn’t really enough salt to hide them but we gave it a shot!

Overall this activity was a hit. William got the change to explore the texture of salt, we talked about the colour and he practised his scooping and pouring skills. I loved seeing how focussed he was.

I look forward to more salt play in the future!
